The Commission on Nomadic Peoples is happy to announce that its Lifetime Achievement Award for outstanding contributions to the study of nomadic peoples has been awarded jointly to Professor Walter Goldschmidt and Professor I M Lewis. These awards were made at the Commission general meeting held in Florence, July 2003.
The previous award was made to Professor William Irons (Northwestern University) who was selected for the year 2000 prize by a jury of nine members of the Commission. In 1998 the CNP's first Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Professor Fredrik Barth.
